On Monday, 10-year-old Luna Perrone revealed details about her unexpected meeting over the weekend with PGA legend Tiger Woods. The pair met at a soccer field in Florida and shared a special moment together.

Woods spent some time speaking with Perrone and shared some inspiring words for the little girl who is battling Ewing’s Sarcoma. The rare form of cancer is an aggressive bone disease, which typically occurs in children and young adults.

The young athlete hasn’t let cancer slow her down though, and is an inspiration unto herself. She’s continued to play soccer while in treatment. In addition, Perrone loves softball and can be seen surfing at the beach on her Instagram account. While at her soccer game over the weekend, she ran into Tiger Woods who is still recovering from his car crash in February.

The 15-time major champion had a “quick chat” with Perrone and her family. He told the little girl to “stay strong” during her fight with cancer and happily posed for a picture with her. Woods looked happy to share the moment with Perrone as he was all smiles in the photo. He’s supporting himself on crutches while decked out in his typical Nike branded gear. Woods is also wearing a sleeve on his surgically repaired right leg.

Additionally, Perrone is still wearing her soccer jersey in the photo, which is a New York Red Bulls kit. In a nice gesture, the NY Red Bulls official Instagam account even commented on her post. The MLS team re-emphasized for her to “Stay strong!”” and said “we’re all with you!!”

“I got to have a quick chat with Tiger Woods this weekend when I bumped into him at the soccer fields! He told me to ‘stay strong’ which has always been my goal! Stay strong physically and mentally and inspire others to do the same! No matter what you are going through YOU GOT THIS!!!,” Perrone wrote on the Instagram post.

Tiger Woods Injured in Terrible Car Crash

On February 23, while in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California, Tiger Woods drove his car off the road, which resulted in a horrific rollover car crash. The golfer sustained serious injuries to his legs in the incident, and is still on crutches more than three months later.

Emergency workers quickly responded to the scene of the crash where Woods’ SUV took major damage. They found the famous golfer stuck inside his automobile and called for further assistance. Shortly after they were able to extract Woods from the single-car accident.

Once they removed Woods from his car, paramedics rushed him to a nearby hospital. As reports circulated online, and pictures of the wrecked SUV leaked, many worried for Woods’ life. To the relief of his fans around the world, officials eventually notified the public that Woods’ injuries were not life-threatening.

Woods has a long road to recovery, and spent weeks rehabilitating in California before heading home to Florida. It’s good to see the golfer out and about again, but we likely won’t see Tiger on a golf course anytime soon.
