When it comes to professional football, NFL star and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is the undisputed GOAT (greatest of all time).
If there was any doubt lingering on Tom Brady’s greatness, he squashed it with his play in the 2020 NFL season. Playing in the midst of a deadly pandemic and with a brand new team, Brady was near flawless through the season. Though he spent his first 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, switching teams did not slow Brady down one bit. He played at an MVP level all season long and led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl win. At 43-years-old, an age when most pros are retired, Tom Brady earned MVP honors for his performance in the big game. In the Super Bowl, his tenth appearance in the championship game, he threw three touchdown passes. on his way to claiming his seventh world championship.
Tom Brady holds an NFL resume that is second to none and now a former teammate says the quarterback deserves a spot on the Mount Rushmore of sports. Ty Law, a teammate of Brady’s in New England, says the quarterback is not only the greatest football player but also the greatest athlete of all time.
Law, an NFL Hall of Famer, says his former teammate deserves recognition beyond the gridiron. Tom Brady was named the greatest football player of all time by The Athletic earlier this week.
Tom Brady’s Former Teammate Has High Praise
“And he’s got a damn good chance, he might mess around and get (Super Bowl title) Number 8 this year,” Law says. “When you talk about GOATs and the legends of the league, the alpha GOAT, that’s Tom Brady. That’s the alpha GOAT, and there should be no debate about it. He’s in the same breath as when you talk about Michael Jordan, LeBron, Wayne Gretzky. When you’re talking about the Mount Rushmore of sports, Tom Brady’s face is up there.”
It is certainly lofty praise there by the former All-Pro cornerback but not many would disagree with Law’s sentiment. In fact, many sports fans will say Tom Brady deserves the top billing on a sports Mount Rushmore. Why we don’t already have a sports Mount Rushmore is beyond me but someone should get on that.
Law even humorously suggests that the NFL Hall of Fame suspend its rules and induct Tom Brady before he retires.
“Look, I’m in the (Hall of Fame) club, and I’ve still got to pinch myself to this day,” he says. “But if there is any time that you bend the rules, you do that for Tom Brady. Give him his gold jacket while he’s still playing. That’s how great, that’s how dominant he’s been.”
Tom Brady the Bucs will kick off the 2021 NFL season tomorrow night (Thursday) against the Dallas Cowboys.
