UFC 264: Watch Conor McGregor Try Kicking Dustin Poirier at News Conference Ahead of Match

We are just a day out from UFC 264 — that’s when we will get to see Conor McGregor face off with Dustin Poirier for the third time. The two superstar fighters will get their rubber match after McGregor won the first fight by knockout in 2014 while Poirier won the second fight earlier this year the same way.

This fight will be for more than just bragging rights, however. As of right now Charles Oliveira currently sits on top of the lightweight division. So round three between McGregor and Poirier will certainly have some title fight implications.

With so much on the line, we know both fighters are going to be heated. Especially the Notorious Conor McGregor. He is well known for his antics both inside and outside of the octagon. And those antics were on full display at the pre-fight press conference ahead of UFC 264. As a matter of fact, McGregor, donning a plaid purple suit and sunglasses, attempted to kick at Dustin Poirier on stage while UFC President Dana White held them apart.

“On Saturday night, you’re going to get walked around that octagon like a dog and then put to sleep,” McGregor told Poirier. “He’s not in the same stratosphere as me. The man looks disgraceful up here. He looks frail at this weight now. The weight cut is getting to him.”

“He’s going out on a stretcher in this fight,” McGregor continued.

“You used to be a lot better than that man, man,” Poirier fired back when McGregor finally stopped talking. “The trash talk was a lot better than that.”

UFC 264 Returning to Las Vegas in a Big Way

UFC 264 will officially mark the return of the UFC to Las Vegas and T-Mobile Arena with a live crowd. It has been a long time coming for all sports fans. And the headlining fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier is just the cherry on top.

Dana White expressed his excitement for the UFC to be back in Las Vegas in a previous press conference.

“I am so happy to finally be able to say Vegas is back,” White said at the time. “This summer, Las Vegas is back open for business, and on July 10, UFC 264 will be at the T-Mobile Arena here in Vegas at 100 percent capacity. Ladies and gentlemen, that’s 20,000 fans. And this card will be headlined by the third fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. Tickets go on sale this week.”

The last time the UFC had a live crowd in Las Vegas was at UFC 248. That took place over a year ago, on March 7, 2020. Like many other big-time sporting events, the UFC was forced to take a back seat to the COVID-19 pandemic in the early spring of 2020.
