Everyone knows that combat sports are violent. It is right there in the name. UFC fighter Devin Clark suffered a gruesome injury in his fight with Ion Cutelaba. UFC Vegas 37 featured a few great fights. Unfortunately for fans of Clark, it was not his night.

Against Cutelaba, the 31-year-old Clark hung in through the entire fight but did not come close to winning. It was clear from the first round that this might be a bad night for the American. Cutelaba landed a massive right hand and it was surprising that Clark was able to hold on.

As the fight continued, Clark wasn’t knocked out but he was barely in the fight. He took a ton of heavy hits and it ended up giving him a nasty injury. His teeth were literally bashed in during the fight. So, I will warn you the photo below is pretty graphic.

So, it looks like Devin Clark is going to end up with a shiny new set of teeth. Not only did he lose his teeth, but he lost the fight in a unanimous decision. The scorecards were not kind to Clark and show just how one-sided the fight was. Perhaps he is wishing that hit in the first round had taken him out, to begin with.

Combat sports are fun to watch for many. Seeing two people duke it out has been a pastime and is one of the earliest sports in human history. However, it can get bad in a hurry. Horrific injuries are part of the business. Earlier in the year, the sports world reacted to Conor McGregor’s broken leg. That was one for the books. While Clark is likely to heal quicker from his injury, it doesn’t make it hurt any less.

Ion Cutelaba Wins in Unanimous Decision Over Devin Clark

Now, for the Maldovan fighter, Ion Cutelaba, the night was a success. He took out Clark and likely set himself up for a bigger fight soon in the future. At 27-years-old, The Hulk, as he is called in MMA circles made easy work of his older opponent. Leading up to this fight, Cutelaba had lost three in a row and was the underdog. Devin Clark was supposed to be the man on top at the end of this one. However, he made the most of his opportunity.

After landing that first big hit, the confidence had to be high for Cutelaba. He stayed aggressive through the entire fight and in the end, came out on top. By the end of the fight, the scorecards read 30-26, 29-26, and 29-27. Cutelaba landed an elbow in the second round that likely caused the mouth injury to Clark. Although he had been hurt, Clark kept fighting.

Hopefully Devin Clark is able to heal quickly from his injuries and get himself some new teeth.
