Urban Meyer Purchases $2 Million Mansion a Few Houses Down from Tim Tebow’s Amid Tryout

There’s a lot going on in Jacksonville, Florida these days. Coach Urban Meyer made his return to football recently when he took over as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Additionally, recent reports have stated that Florida’s favorite son Tim Tebow is attempting to make a return to the NFL as a tight end. And now, further reports have noted that Meyer and Tebow are officially neighbors who live just a few doors down from each other.

Meyer coached Tebow at the University of Florida where they won two national championships together. The pair have a strong bond with one another that continues to this day. So it’s no surprise that Meyer ended up moving only three houses away from his former quarterback.

Meyer and his family just moved into a 4-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom home inside the Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club in South Jacksonville. Supposedly the house cost Meyer $2.15 million. It includes a butler’s kitchen, summer kitchen, game room, pool, spa, and even has its own elevator.

According to ESPN‘s NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Tim Tebow recently worked out with the Jaguars’ tight end coach.

As he entered the NFL, many doubted Tebow’s capabilities as a pro quarterback. After three seasons in the league, and a couple more on practice squads, Tebow ran out of chances as a QB. However, many believed he could extend his NFL career if he moved to the tight end position. It’s been six years since he’s been in the NFL. Since then, he’s attempted to make a career in baseball. Yet after retiring from baseball, the 33-year-old may be looking at his last shot at a pro football career.

Tim Tebow Originally Said He Wouldn’t Give up Baseball to Rejoin Meyer on the Jaguars

Earlier this year in January, Tim Tebow shared that he had no intentions of returning to football. At the time, he was gearing up for spring training with the New York Mets‘ AAA minor league team while Urban Meyer accepted the head coaching position in Jacksonville.

Tebow told TMZ that he was fully committed to baseball. In fact, he said he would turn down any offer from Meyer whether it be for him to play or coach on the Jaguars.

“For me, I’m super excited about spring training. So, that’s where my focus kind of swirls right now,” Tebow said.

What a difference a few months can make. Literally everything Tebow said in January has now changed. Not only does he have intentions to play football again, his focus definitely isn’t on baseball considering he officially retired from the sport in February.

“I want to thank the Mets, Mr. Alderson, the fans and all my teammates for the chance to be a part of such a great organization. I loved every minute of the journey, but at this time I feel called in other directions…,” Tebow wrote on Twitter announcing his retirement.

Many speculated about Tim Tebow’s next move after retiring from baseball. Yet it seems much clearer now what direction he’s headed with his next career move.
