WWE Chairman Vince McMahon’s Brother Rod Dead at 77

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon‘s brother has died. Roderick McMahon III or Rod as he was affectionately called passed away on Jan. 20.

At the time, his passing wasn’t announced to the public. But McMahon’s death was confirmed via an obituary announced on Legacy. Vice-versa, the publication Wrestling Observer independently confirmed the passing of the wrestling titan’s brother. McMahon was 77-years-old at the time of his death.

Born into a pro-wrestling family, Rod McMahon chose to strike out on his own. His grandfather Jess, father Vince Sr., and brother Vince all followed in the family business of spandex, high octane thrills, and wrestling. The McMahon empire has been a force in the entertainment industry for decades.

Vince McMahon’s Brother Followed a Different Path

Rod opted to follow a different path. Born in Long Island, New York on Oct. 12, 1943, McMahon graduated from Havelock High School in North Carolina. He later attended Memphis State University and then joined the Air Force, where he served. After a stint in the military, McMahon also started the North American Metals Inc. Company with his wife, Jamice, in 1987.

“Rod loved life, his other passions included his family, friends, shooting sports, all things dogs, and his enduring and fervent support of local law enforcement,” the obituary stated. “Rod never met a stranger and was first to lend a hand to ANYONE in need.”

“He met Jamice while stationed at Ramstein AFB Germany. The two were married in 1967, and their company was one of the “many passions in life.” The obituary goes on to say that Rod was “a leader, a mentor, a counselor, and most importantly a friend to all. Rod carried through his personal and business life an open-door policy to all that knocked on it. A kind and most generous soul; a character that one could only hope to emulate.”Vince McMahon was Rod’s only sibling. Their father, Vincent K. McMahon, died at the age of 69 in 1984. Two years before he died, Vince McMahon bought WWE (then called WWF) from his father and still runs it today.”

Rod McMahon is survived by his wife Jamice, his sons Rome and Troy McMahon, grandchildren, and also his brother Vince.
