The video is destined to be a classic. Gardner Minshew rolls down the window of his truck and leans out. He’s got a tooth pick in his mouth. He shakes his brown mane like some sort of football super model. And he raises his eye brows, provocatively.

Gardner Minshew then wants to ask you a question.

“Hey baby, you wanna come take a ride with the Mississippi Mudflap?”Minshew says, drawling out the word mud.

Um, mudflap? Isn’t that on a truck?

Nope, it’s just what Gardner Minshew calls his newest ‘do, his take on the mullet. Take a look for yourself.

Gardner Minshew Is Big Personality

We can’t get enough of Gardner Minshew, the quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars and the pride of Flowood, Miss. He first grew a mullet at Washington State. And his mustache has inspired so many memes. Its nickname is “Mississippi Mustache.”

It’s not that creative, but it fits.

But this latest mullet is perfection. It’s definitely business in the front and party in the back. The top of his hair is short and perfectly feathered. He’s given it a modern look by shaving the sides. Then the back of his hair flows past the shoulders. Minshew’s short, well-groomed beard doesn’t distract from the mullet. Someone put a lot of thought into this.

Minshew’s antics have entertained NFL fans for the past two seasons since he joined the Jaguars as a sixth-round draft pick. An injury to then starter Nick Foles pushed Minshew to the top of the Jacksonville depth chart.

In November, 2019, Minshew filed an application for three trademarks with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He wanted to trademark “Minshew Mania,” “Mississippi Mustache” and “Minshew Magic.” The trademarks could be used on clothing and other apparel. Minshew would get a cut of the profits for use of the phrases.

We’re betting “Mississippi Mudflap” gets an application, too.

But Gardner Minshew may be looking for a new home. Word is he’s on the trading block. The Jaguars own the No. 1 pick of this year’s draft. New coach Urban Meyer is likely salivating at the thought of selecting Clemson star quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

Minchew was 1-7 as a starter in 2020. He injured his thumb, then never made it back to the starting lineup. His stats were decent, but he won’t scare away Trevor Lawrence. Urban Meyer will have to decide if he wants to keep the popular Minshew as an insurance policy or trade him away.

But until then, Gardner Minshew and his “Mississippi Mudflap” will charm us all.
