Jacksonville Jaguars Fire GM Earlier This Season

Entering Sunday’s home game against Chicago, the Jacksonville Jaguars were 1-13 for the season. It has been so bad that in November, the team fired General Manager Dave Caldwell.

Caldwell’s dismissal happened after a loss to the Cleveland Browns. At the time, it was Jacksonville’s 10th straight loss and secured the team’s third straight double-digit loss total for a season.

Jaguars’ owner Shad Khan made the move away from Caldwell after thinking about firing him last year.

“Dave was exceptionally committed and determined to bring a winner to Jacksonville, but unfortunately his efforts were not rewarded with the results our fans deserve and our organization expects,” Khan said in a statement after a 27-25 loss to Cleveland. “Our football operation needs new leadership, and we will have it with a new general manager in 2021.”

Former San Francisco 49ers front-office executive Trent Baalke was named interim general manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
