Former NFL wide receiver Julian Edelman may have a tough time picking between the Patriots and Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football. But that didn’t stop him from sending a touching message to Tom Brady and Bill Belichick ahead of the game.
There is no question about it — Julian Edelman had a special connection with his former New England Patriots teammate Tom Brady and his head coach Bill Belichick. After all, the trio won three Super Bowl titles together. That in itself helped put their names into not only the New England record books but also into the hearts of Patriots fans.
However, Edelman announced his retirement from the NFL back in April. And as we all know by now, Tom Brady left the Patriots last year in free agency. All he did after that was sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and lead them to a Super Bowl win.
But Bill Belichick is still the coach of the Patriots. The team is in the process of moving on from Brady and Edelman, having just drafted a rookie quarterback in the first round of the NFL draft. But when Tampa Bay comes into Foxboro for Sunday Night Football, emotions will be on high just about everywhere.
That goes especially so for Julian Edelman who will no doubt enjoy his former teammate and coach battling each other for the first time. He took to social media to post a touching video that shows Belichick and Brady coming into their own over the years.
“Love you guys. Play nice.” Edelman says at the end of the video.
Julian Edelman Drops Fun Fact About Tom Brady
It was Twitter on Sunday morning, but on Saturday the recently-retired wide receiver took to his official Instagram account to announce his weekly “thirst trap” pick.
In the video, which has since gotten more than 158,000 likes, fans see Julian Edelman shirtless eating a bowl of cereal. All the while, he debates on who he is going to take in the big Sunday Night Football matchup.
“It’s like picking between mom and dad #LoveYouBoth #ThirstTrapGameOfTheWeek”
Not only that, but Edelman also posted a fun fact about his former quarterback and close friend.
“In games where Tom Brady starts, the Patriots are 187 and 127 against the spread. And fun fact, Tom Brady has never beaten the New England Patriots. Patriots +7.”
If you know Julian Edelman, then you know that he is always one of the funniest guys in the room. He has kept that same hilarious demeanor so far during his retirement as well. Earlier in the week, compared the matchup between Brady and Belichick to a famous scene from NBC’s The Office. The 35-year-old is calling this game the “GOAT BOWL.”
