It was only a matter of time before Kobe Bryant would be inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame. That moment finally came on Saturday, May 15.

It has been a weekend to fully celebrate the life and legacy of Kobe Bryant. And on Saturday night, Bryant was forever enshrined in the basketball Hall of Fame. The timing comes about a year and a half after Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, tragically died in a helicopter crash along with seven others.

Ahead of his official induction, the ceremony played a heart-warming video, remembering Bryant and his legendary basketball career. It was after that Michael Jordan of all people walked Vanessa Bryant onto the stage to deliver a tear-jerking acceptance speech. Vanessa, of course, is Kobe’s widow and the mother to their children, Natalia, 18, Bianka, 4, and Capri, 1.

“You did it. You’re in the Hall of Fame now, you’re a true champ. You’re not just an MVP, you’re an all-time great. I’m so proud of you. I love you forever and always. Kobe Bean Bryant.”

Vanessa Bryant, like all other sports fans, wishes that Kobe Bryant could have accepted his Hall of Fame Award for himself.

“I wish my husband was here to accept this incredible award,” she continued. “He and Gigi deserve to go here and witness this. Gigi would be so proud to watch her daddy get enshrined into the Basketball Hall of Fame. I know he was looking forward to being here.”

Vanessa Thanks Those Who Supported Her and Kobe Bryant Over the Years

The basketball legacy of Kobe Bryant will forever live on. There is no question about that. And even though Kobe wasn’t able to thank everyone himself, Vanessa Bryant did so for him. First, she started with Kobe’s parents.

“Pam and Joe, thank you for raising Kobe to be exceptional. Thank you to all of Kobe’s family, Sharia, you have gone above and beyond. I love you.

“There will never be anyone like Kobe. Kobe was one-of-a-kind. He was special. He was humble… off the court,” Vanessa smirked. “But bigger than life.

Vanessa Bryant also thanked all of her close friends and family that have been there for her and her girls during such a difficult time.

“To all of our close friends and family that have been present for my girls and I, thank you. That list is long and it takes a village, but know that your kindness and love does not go unappreciated,” Bryant said. “I know that Kobe is thankful that you are all coming through for his girls. We love you all and are forever grateful for you.”
