Lamar Odom has inked his deal with Celebrity Boxing, but now it’s time to train like a fighter. The 41-year-old is showing off what he’s learned so far.
Even though Odom’s opponent hasn’t been announced yet, the former basketball player is wasting no time training. Watch below, courtesy of TMZ, as Odom throws some right and left jabs, and works on his footwork. The former NBA player looks decent, but it’s the sound of his punches when they make contact is what’s got our attention.
He’s even hired well-known trainer Xavier Biggs. Some of Biggs’ clients include, Kevin Hart and Usher.
As we mentioned, Odom might not have an opponent yet, but his fight is June 12 at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Celebrity Boxing’s Damon Feldman is hinting that Lamar Odom’s opponent is a household name.
Lamar Odom isn’t First NBA Player in Ring
It might be the first time Lamar Odom is putting on boxing gloves. However, it’s not the first time a NBA player has stepped into the ring.
Just late last year, NBAer Nate Robison squared up against Youtuber Jake Paul. It didn’t end well for Robinson and we’re sure that Odom is looking for a different outcome. Moreover, Odom will be the first basketball player back in the ring since the previous exhibition match that included Robinson.
Former Basketball Player Signs Celebrity Boxing Deal
Celebrity boxing seems to be on the rise as of late. Just last November the exhibition match between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones, Jr took off, but those weren’t the only names that got recognition. Jake Paul’s knockout of Nate Robinson also made headlines.
Now, Lamar Odom is throwing his name into the ring for the next round of fights. The former basketball player was first made a household name when he married reality star, Khloe Kardashian. Their relationship kept Odom in the headlines, and then it turned to his drug addiction. Odom battled the disease as Kardashian tried to help him. However, the two ended up getting a divorce. The basketball player was hospitalized for some time after his near-death experience with drugs. It seems as if Odom’s trying to turn his life around, and boxing just might be the stability that he needs.
Furthermore, Odom says that he’s fully committed to training before this upcoming fight.
