One of the pandemic’s highlight topics was the government-funded stimulus checks. The payments helped to boost the income of American households throughout the economic losses that resulted from the CVOID-19 pandemic. That said, Outsiders nationally should have received three separate stimulus checks. Now, in 2022, most families and individuals due the prior two payments should have seen those totals in their accounts. However, as for the third stimulus check, many Americans missed the final 2021 payment. With that, they’re left wondering whether they can still claim that sum here in the New Year.

Fortunately, the answer is yes. Although it will require a little work on the part of the reader (if this applies to you).

According to en.as.com, the payments approved as part of the American Rescue Plan remain accessible. Further, many Americans were eligible for the final stimulus check, which equated to a sum of $1,400. However, there were still steps required to make sure those funds went to the specified account.

In order to receive the final stimulus payment, the outlet stated the individual must fulfill all necessary criteria. Additionally, they also needed to have the correct information submitted to the IRS system. Therefore, if the government site was missing any necessary information, that particular person would not have received the final payment.

Fear not, however, as there is a solution you can reach, even in the new year. As per the outlet, those who missed out on the final payment of 2021 simply need to file their 2022 tax return. From there, the IRS should have the necessary information to prove eligibility and appropriate funds.

Additional 2021 Stimulus Payments to Confirm in 2022

While the nationwide distribution of the federal stimulus checks definitely foreran as the largest and most popular sums during the pandemic, the American Rescue Plan released a handful of other payments throughout to eligible families and individuals.

Among those additional 2021 payments were the 2021 Child Tax Credit, the Child and Dependent Care Credit, and the Earned Income Tax Credit. The prior three were accessible specifically for households with families and children. The final credit could be claimed by those workers without either children or dependents.

While it’s important to confirm your eligibility and receipt of the $1,400 stimulus payment, parents should also confirm they received the correct sums for the child tax credit in 2021. As AS tells us, those who do file this year could see increased sums on their returns with the correct information. A prime example comes from the 2021 Child Tax Credit.

For parents that welcomed a newborn in 2021 and therefore did not claim that child on their 2020 income tax return, there is a possibility that the family could see up to $3,600. Families with adopted children under six years old could also see that same amount. Further, families with children aged six to 17 that were not claimed in 2020 can receive up to $3,000 following filing of this year’s return.
