November has snuck up on us and that means Thanksgiving is right around the corner. But while Black Friday is a day to visit stores, Thanksgiving is not.

Which is completely understandable. Of course, we’d like the freedom to make a last-second pit-stop if need be on Thanksgiving, those behind the counter need family time too. Which is why, this year, you need to plan ahead.

So who’s all closing their doors on November 25? It’s quite the list, with the key names like Walmart, Target and Publix are taking the day off.

But besides those huge names, there’s also other retailers like Home Depot, Bed, Bath and Beyond, and Costco that won’t be opening.

Other household names like TJ Maxx and Best Buy have also elected to close. Best Buy spokesperson Keegan Shoutz explained her business’ decision.

“This year, we’ll have even more ways for customers to easily and conveniently get their holiday shopping done, over the Black Friday weekend and throughout the entire holiday season,” Shoutz said to USA Today.

Very true. Continue reading for other businesses who won’t be opening their doors on Nov. 25.

Walmart Offers Their Own Reason for Closure

Back in June, Walmart came out and announced their plans for Thanksgiving. Rather than leaving it up to chance, the brand said outright that their stores will not be open on Thanksgiving this year.

Walmart executive vice president Dacona Smith offered a statement.

“Throughout the pandemic,” Smith started. “Our associates have been nothing short of heroic in how they have stepped up to serve our customers and their communities. Sam Walton said, ‘Our people make the difference,’ and that’s never been more true than it is right now.”

Essentially, things have been tough. And now, more than ever, the value of time with family is heightened.

“Closing our stores on Thanksgiving Day is one way we’re saying ‘thank you’ to our teams for their dedication and hard work this year,” Smith said. “We hope everyone will take the opportunity to be with their loved ones during what’s always a special time.”
