Toby Keith Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary of ‘Blue Moon’s Platinum Title

Country music superstar Toby Keith has sat atop the country industry for quite some time with hit song after hit song.

At 59-years-od, Keith shows no signs of slowing down and is looking forward to continued success in the future. While he looks ahead to what might be in the near future, he is also looking back at his impressive list of accomplishments. The “Red Solo Cup” and “As Good as I once was” singer has numerous awards including Billboard’s Entertainer of the Decade.

One of the country star’s top-selling albums is “Blue Moon,” which was put out in 1996. Keith took to social media on Saturday to remember the album that placed the singer among country music’s elite artists. Many will find it hard to believe the album went platinum on this date (Jan. 30) in 2001.

“Twenty years later and that Blue Moon is still shining!” he writes in the tweet’s caption space. “On this day in 2001, Toby received a platinum award for the album Blue Moon.”

Keith includes a link to the album’s Spotify site so that fans can check out the album and hear why it took top billing. With more than 1.2 million Twitter followers, Keith took in hundreds of “likes,” comments, and retweets on the post. Keith is rather active on social media, using the platform to reach out to and interact with his fans and followers.

Blue Moon was Keith’s third studio albums and one of his most successful ones to date. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified it platinum in 2001 after it sold more than one million units. The album features hit songs like “A Woman’s Touch” and “Me Too” it produced three singles that placed on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. The single “Does that Blue Moon Shine You?” reached second place on the chart. The aforementioned “Me Too” went all the way to number one on the chart.
