Red Bluff Police arrested 26-year-old Daniel Gomez-Martinez for battery and elder abuse. The police didn’t charge the woman in the attack.
An ambulance took took the veteran to St. Elizabeth Hospital where doctors treated his injuries. A photo showed cuts and scrapes across the top of his head. The hospital later released the veteran, but he said he’s still having headaches.

“You’re always taught situational awareness,” he said. “And this guy came out of …. I never saw it coming.”
“I was so shocked for the hate that people have, you know,” he added. The veteran didn’t expect someone to act so hostile to his MAGA hat. “I don’t hate them, I never met them. I just can’t believe they would do something like that.”
