In an unimaginably devastating accident, security footage at a Dominican Republic airport captured the moment a jet crash-landed before exploding. The incident left all three crew dead, as well as a family of six, including Latin music producer “Flow La Movie.”

The family was en route from San Domingo to Orlando, Fl. when they attempted an emergency landing. The Gulfstream IV private aircraft crashed into the runway and then burst into flames, killing everyone on board. Moments before, the pilot made a distress call to Las Américas International Airport about needing to make the landing.

Footage of the crash shows the plane touching down over a grassy field before it’s engulfed in flames, according to the Daily Mail.

Those that died include José Ángel Hernández, 38, (Flow La Movie) along with his wife Debbie Von Marie Jiménez García, 31, and the pair’s four-year-old son, Jayden Hernández. Kellyan Hernández Peña, 21, and Yeilianys Jeishlimar Meléndez Jiménez, 18, were also killed. So was Jiménez García‘s 13-year-old son, Jassiel Yabdiel Silva.

The three crew members that were killed include Venezuelan pilot Luis Alberto Eljuri Tancreado, 47, Dominican co-pilot Emilio Herrera, 32, and Dominican stewardess Veronica Estrella, 26.

Investigation Into Crash

Information retrieved from the plane’s black box shows that the pilot made the distress call about 15 minutes after takeoff. According to Deputy Director of the Fire Department Kai Schenhals, the plane appeared to have taken off with some apparent damage.

However, the jet’s owner, Helidosa Aviation Group, said they have over 55,000 hours of flight time with 29 years of service. They defended their reputation with a written statement released to reporters.

The family originally departed from La Isabela International Airport. The crash happened moments later. Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the crash.

In the Latin music industry, fans of “Flow La Movie” are mourning the loss of the successful producer. His career was just budding after producing the 2018 hit ‘Te Boté’ with Bad Bunny and Ozuna. The song topped the Latin charts for weeks.

Jet Collides with Large Bird Flock

Aviators know that mechanical issues aren’t the only thing that can go wrong when it comes to flying. In many cases, pilots have to watch out for large groups of birds on takeoff and landing. We all know the story of the Miracle on the Hudson after an infamous bird strike, but there’s another more recent as well.

A Ryanair 737 was on approach in Bologna, Italy when it came across a massive Heron group. Luckily, however, the jet was close enough to the runway and ground that they could safely land, despite the bird strike.

A translated tweet from the company shared the following:

“Accident B737-800 9H-QDG; 24.11.2021 at Bologna; flight Ryanair FR1194 (op. by Malta Air) from London Stansted/STN to Bologna/BLQ. During approach collision occurred with several of herons. Were damaged nose, windshield, wings. The right engine ingested birds (photo Dr.B.Baron).”

The airplane’s right engine sucked up the bird flock, causing a small fire. However, this didn’t last long and everyone on board could safely get to their destination.
