Earlier today, authorities searched for Brian Laundrie in the Carlton Reserve, his father Chris was asked to help. According to the Laundrie family attorney, Steven Bertolino, Chris was unable to assist in the search today.

The search for Brian Laundrie continues. North Port police were investigating the area. The preserve has been closed to the public. That is why Bertolino says the family has not been able to search the location, the only place they believe their son could be.

“Chris Laundrie was asked to assist law enforcement in their search for Brian at the preserve today. Since the preserve has been closed to the public Chris has not been able to look for Brian in the only place Chris and Roberta believe Brian may be,” the statement reads. “Unfortunately North Port police had to postpone Chris’ involvement but Chris and Roberta are hopeful there will be another opportunity to assist.”

While Brian’s family believes he is in Carlton Preserve, reports to law enforcement say otherwise. There have been dozens of reported sightings for the person of interest. It was just last week when a hiker claimed he had seen Laundrie near the Appalachian Trail.

As for his chances of surviving in the wilderness, Cassie, his sister doesn’t believe he has a great chance to last long.

“I’d say Brian’s a mediocre survivalist. It wouldn’t surprise me if he could last out there a very long time. But also, I don’t think anything would surprise me at this point.”

Law enforcement is searching in North Port, FL and also taking in reports of Brian Laundrie in North Carolina. So, for the time being, there is a large swath of the country where the person of interest could be.

Laundrie does have a federal arrest warrant. That stems from a charge of unauthorized use of a debit card. In an interview with Dr. Phil, the Petito family lawyer revealed that Laundrie had stolen Petito’s credit card and, “ran from police,” after he returned home to Florida.

“He used her credit card to get home and then ran from the police,” the attorney explained. “That’s going to show a lot about what he was thinking back then.”

“I don’t know what story he’s going to try to tell,” they further explained. “But it’s not going to make any sense when you put it together with his actions from that moment forward – that he’s running, that he’s hiding, that he’s trying to deceive everybody around him.”

Right now, there are still no concrete signs of where Brian Laundrie might be. Whether he is in Florida or North Carolina, authorities are continuing to search for Laundrie.
