It was recently reported someone who looked like Brian Laundrie from the Gabby Petito case was ambushed by U.S. Marshals in his hotel room. A few days after the experience, the “look-alike” spoke out about the surprising experience.

Severin Beckwith and Anna Brettmann are a young couple from Ithaca, New York. Out on a huge hiking expedition, they’ve been on the Appalachian Trail since late September. While in North Carolina after a couple of rainy days, they decided to take a break and rest at the Fontana Village Resort Lodge. They took a short nap in a hotel room there when knocking startled them awake. Before they knew it, U.S. Marshals barged in.

“Next thing I see is a bunch of guys with riot shields with ‘U.S. Marshals’ written on them,” Beckwith told The New Yorker. “Handguns pointed at my face.” Brettmann was still in bed as this occurred. Handcuffing Beckwith in his underwear, they took him out to the hallway. Beckwith said he had an idea why this was happening and “I really hoped I was right,” he explained.

He suspected his resemblance to Brian Laundrie was the reason and he was indeed right. A Florida engineer told authorities he was “99.99 percent sure” Laundrie was on the trail. Making matters worse for Beckwith was a striking physical similarity, “a notch in the upper part of my inner ear just like this,” he noted. Beckwith’s room was booked with a credit card linked with a New York I.D. too, “which, I guess, was good enough motive to come in.”

Beckwith does look like Laundrie, but as Maria Guzman, someone who met the couple while hiking stated, a lot of people do.

Body Language Expert Examines Brian Laundrie’s Parents’ Behavior and Calls it ‘Odd’

There’s no doubt Brian Laundrie’s parents must be experiencing a plethora of emotions amid everything happening with their son. Nonetheless, a behavioral analyst examined their body language and stated it is “odd.”

Patti Wood spoke to The Sun about the behaviors Laundrie’s parents have exhibited lately, with her staying it’s strange. “In grief and stress, people do go about their normal activities so it’s not unusual for people to do things that maintain their life. The way the woman passes the shovel seems a little bit shallow. It makes us curious – it seems odd.”

Additionally, Wood examined Laundrie’s father as the FBI questioned him, saying there were oddities there too. “He flings his hand and arm out, down and away. He brings his shoulder up and he tilts his head and shoulder,” Wood observed. “That indicates some dissonance with the question. He’s either shrugging it off or he’s not in agreement. They are two very different things.”

Wood states that’s not to say they’re lying necessarily, but it is peculiar.
