Britney Spears said she will not perform another concert until her father is no longer in charge of her life and career. Jamie Spears has had nearly full control of Spears’ finances and personal life since 2008. A judge made him a conservator of her estate, but now she’s fighting back.

Not only in court, where she recently hired high-powered lawyers to represent her. She said she won’t return to the stage until the matter is resolved, Reuters said.

She took to Instagram Saturday to explain why she is she will not take the stage until this legal drama plays out.

(Her post contains language that some may find offensive.)

“I’m not gonna be performing on any stages anytime soon with my dad handling what I wear, say, do, or think,” the pop princess wrote in the lengthy caption.

“I’d much rather share videos YES from my living room instead of onstage in Vegas… I’m not gonna put on heavy makeup and try try try on stage again and not be able to do the real deal with remixes of my songs for years,” she added.

Spears hasn’t performed since 2018 after a long residency in Las Vegas. Since then she said that her father’s brutal and oppressive treatment of her “killed her dreams.”

“My so-called support system hurt me deeply !!!!” she wrote. “This conservatorship killed my dreams … so all I have is hope and hope is the only thing in this world that is very hard to kill … yet people still try !!!!”

Jamie Spears was named conservator of Spears estate 13 years ago after a series of public meltdowns. Spears, who has an undisclosed mental condition, shaved her head and attacked the paparazzi at that time.

Britney Spears Asks Her Father to Leave Her Alone

In a court hearing earlier this week, Britney Spears asked her father to step down from his role as conservator of her estimated $60 million estate. She also told the court via phone Wednesday that she wanted to press charges against him.

“I want an investigation into my dad,” she said, sobbing, CNN said.

Mathew Rosengart, the singer’s new attorney, said, “It is in the best interest of the conservatee” for Jamie Spears to step down voluntarily.

“We will be moving promptly and aggressively for his removal,” Rosengart said after the hearing. “The question remains, why is he involved? He should step down voluntarily because that’s what’s in the best interest of the conservatee.”

But Britney Spears father said through his attorney he had no intentions of stepping down from her as conservator.

Spears may have had her troubles years ago, but she is trying to make the case that she no longer needs a guardian. Since 2008, she performed a lengthy residency in Las Vegas and served as a judge on the series X-Factor as well as raised two children.
