Butterball and Kroger Recall Turkey Products Due to Potential Contamination

Check those fridges and freezers because Butterball and Kroger brand ground turkey products are under recall for possible contamination. USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service released a statement on the matter.

This recall is going to deem over 14,000 pounds of ground turkey products unsafe. The USDA says that the meat, “may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically blue plastic.” The good news is those whole turkeys for the upcoming Holidays are not mentioned in the recall.

As of right now, there is not any evidence of injuries due to the contaminated turkey. This issue was discovered due to consumer complaints. Those complaints alleged that there were pieces of blue plastic embedded in raw ground turkey from these two brands. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service are concerned. Products may be in storage at people’s homes.

Salmonella Outbreak, Lead Cause Seafood and Beef Recall

This is just the latest recall issued. There is also a recall on seafood and beef products from stores such as Walmart, Target, Kroger, Sprouts, and Publix. Those products include Northeast Seafood brand seafood products. Simple Mills almond flour crackers are on the list as well as Crider Mills canned beef with gravy products.

As for the seafood, those products are all Northeast Seafood brand food. They include haddock, monkfish, bone-in-trout, grouper, red snapper, and much more. You can read about that recall here and make the appropriate decisions about your own products at home.

As for the crackers, those products were packaged incorrectly. While the sea salt almond flour crackers contain no dairy, the company had cheddar-flavored crackers packaged in those boxes. They pulled the products so lactose-intolerant consumers won’t eat the wrong product.

If you have any Crider Mills, beef in gravy products, check those productions dates. This recall is affecting over 500,000 pounds of product due to unsafe levels of lead. This resulted from a spice mix from an outside supplier. Those productions dates are between October 22, 2020, and March 15, 2021. Throw those products away. Other Crider Mills product names are Hargis House and Clover Valley.
