Many restaurants across the country are facing staffing issues these days. These businesses simply cannot hire enough people to adequately staff their restaurants. You can add two Chick-fil-A restaurants in Alabama to that list.
In fact, according to Fox Business, these two locations of the popular restaurant chain recently announced that they will close their dining rooms. These restaurants are citing staffing issues as the driving force behind this decision. Also, these staffing issues occurred due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
There are simply not enough staff members to operate these Chick-fil-A restaurants at full service. Plus, the staff that they do have are overworked, “overextended,” and “exhausted.” So, they decided to close their dining rooms.
These Chick-fil-A restaurants are located in Madison, Alabama, and McCalla, Alabama. Also, both locations shared the decision to close the dining rooms via social media. The restaurants’ drive-thrus will remain open in order to serve customers. The Madison location has also stopped serving customers through its mobile curbside ordering and mobile carryout services. The McCalla location will also continue serving customers through its mobile curbside service.
‘Chick-fil-A’ Locations Describe ‘Hiring Crisis’ and ‘Exhausted’ Employees
On the Facebook page for the Madison location, a section of the message reads: “We, along with many businesses, are in the middle of a hiring crisis. We are doing everything we can to hire more team members. We are seeing far less job applicants or people not showing up for their interviews. The restaurant industry has suffered from a hiring perspective during the pandemic, and unfortunately Chick-fil-A is not immune to this labor shortage.”
The Madison location closed the social media post by making a pitch for people to join their team. “PS…. if you know anybody that wants a fast-paced job, Sundays off, a fun work environment and a chance to grow as a team member……. have them give us a call,” the post also says.
The McCalla Chick-fil-A location said its staff members are preparing for their busiest time of the year. This takes place during the months of September through December. This location sees a spike in business because students return to the region, as well as the football season and the holiday season.
“… we are unable to schedule enough team members to provide the excellent service that our guests deserve. The restaurant industry has suffered a great loss since early 2020 and we are not immune to this loss. …” the McCalla location explains.
This Chick-fil-A location also described how its employees are feeling these days.
Another section of this location’s social media post reads: “We are very appreciative, but our team cannot continue at the pace we are at. Our team members are exhausted and there is no relief for them in our roster. Our team humbly asks for your patience as we recalibrate. …”
Both locations thanked their customers and praised the employees they have in the social media posts.
