CNN senior analyst and legal analyst for The New Yorker, Jeffery Toobin, has taken a step back for showing his genitals on a Zoom call.
The New Yorker has suspended Tobin after an incident happened where he exposed his privates on a Zoom call between co-workers of The New Yorker and members of WNYC radio last week.
“I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera,” Toobin said in a statement on Monday. “I apologize to my wife, family, friends, and co-workers. I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video.”
On Twitter, a reporter for the Washington Post sent out a tweet today on the matter. He says that CNN has commented on Toobin, saying, “Jeff Toobin has asked for some time off while he deals with a personal issue, which we have granted.”
Natalie Raabe, the spokesperson for the New Yorker, also added on the situation. “Jeffrey Toobin has been suspended while we investigate the matter.”
He has been working for the company for more than 25 years.
Toobin has not been active on his Twitter account since October 13, where he commented on Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation hearing. His last appearance on CNN was on Saturday, however.
The reporter is currently working on a book titled “True Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Investigation of Donald Trump”. His publicist, Doubleday, an imprint of Random House, also had not commented on the issue.
