You’ve heard of Christmas in July, but have you heard of Black Friday in August? Costco is holding a members-only sale that is sure to bring customers huge savings. The sale started August 4 and runs until August 29, giving shoppers plenty of time to take advantage of the deals. However, there is a catch–some items will have purchasing limits.

For those that aren’t big snackers, this probably isn’t much of a problem. But for Costco customers that can’t live without their sweet and salty treats, the limit might be a bit of a surprise. No, there’s no shortage of potato chips in the nation (at least we hope not). The wholesale store is enforcing the purchasing limits for the duration of the sale to ensure all customers have a chance to cash in on the major deals.

This might help curb some of the chaos, as well. As Americans well know, during big sale events–like Black Friday–things can get a bit competitive inside the store. Having a limit in place might help shoppers keep their cool while browsing the aisles of slashed prices.

Costco isn’t trying to pull the Kirkland Signature wool over anyone’s eyes either. In fact, the store even included a page on their website that explicitly lists which items have a purchase limit and how much each customer can buy.

Costco likely referenced customers’ buying trends and resupply patterns to designate which products needed a purchase limit. Obviously, their most popular snacks received a purchase limit since those will likely be the first to sell out. But popcorn and granola bars aren’t the only kinds of products to receive a limit.

Cleaning products like laundry detergent, dish detergent, sponges and cloths have limits of five or fewer in the warehouse and online. Meanwhile, personal care products have a much wider range of purchasing limits during the sale, from five to 15 items per customer. Perhaps the first stop, though, for many shoppers will be the clothing aisle Costco’s legendary leggings and bike shorts. According to Delish, some have even compared the warehouse’s legwear to that of Lululemon. Many electronics are on sale until August 29, including Sony TVs, Samsung wireless subwoofers and LG washer and dryer sets.

Plenty of furniture and home goods will have huge savings and purchase limits, too. Although, we don’t know many people that need more than five sectionals at one time.

Even if you’re stopping in for a last-minute grocery run, Costco’s August sales event will surely have you browsing the aisles for hours over its mind-boggling prices. Grab a big cart and go wild–just be sure you stay within the product’s purchasing limits.
