On Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. called for due process in the ongoing case of 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, who is accused of killing two protesters and wounding a third during the Kenosha, WI protests.

“We’re waiting for due process. We’re not jumping to a conclusion,” Trump Jr. said in an interview with Rachel Lindsay on Extra TV. “If I put myself in Kyle Rittenhouse[‘s shoes], maybe I shouldn’t have been there. He’s a young kid. I don’t want young kids running around the streets with AR-15s. … Maybe I wouldn’t have put myself in that situation — who knows? We all do stupid things at 17.”

“It’s a little beyond stupid,” host Lindsay replied.

“Really stupid — fine,” Trump Jr. admitted. “But we all have to let due process play out and let due process take its course.”

Donald Trump Jr. Talks New Book, Jacob Blake, and Kyle Rittenhouse

Trump Jr. went on the show to promote his new book, “Liberal Privilege: Joe Biden and the Democrats Defense of the Indefensible.”

He was questioned during the interview on President Trump’s controversial trip to Wisconsin. In fact, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers did not want Trump to visit Kenosha because he thought he may cause more harm than good.

Trump Jr.’s father visited Kenosha following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. The president did not condemn Rittenhouse, but did condemn local violence as “domestic terrorism.” This prompted Trump Jr. to respond with his comments.

Rittenhouse was charged earlier this month with five criminal counts, including first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree reckless homicide. The teenager allegedly opened fire during protests after the Blake shooting. Kenosha police shot Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, in the back seven times last month in front of his children.

Rittenhouse’s lawyers have since claimed that he was acting in self-defense at the protests.
