Donald Trump Jr. wants outdoorsmen to vote for President Trump in the upcoming election, and Twitter is weighing in. Earlier this week, Trump Jr. took to social media to make the case to hunters, fishermen, and others who love the outdoors for his father’s re-election.
The son of the president shared the video with the caption: “Typically Outdoorsmen are left behind & ignored by DC Politicians but President Trump hasn’t ignored or forgotten you, he has done more for the American Outdoorsmen than any President since Roosevelt. He now needs your help to continue what he’s started!” He completed the caption of the post by adding a link to huntthevote.org.
Donald Trump Jr. Makes His Case to Outdoorsmen
At the beginning of the clip, the father of five explains that he would rather be in the outdoors, but is busy on the campaign trail. “I hope by now you realize that I’m an outdoorsman and while I may be in a dress shirt because I took a couple minutes off the campaign trail to film this, I would much rather be in the woods right now in the fall,” he said. “That said, I want to make sure that you understand all of the things that the Trump administration has followed through. The promises that I’ve made to you, that they would make for you in 2016.”
He continues by sharing several statistics about the Trump administration’s work with the great outdoors. “4.1 million new acres of public land made accessible by this administration,” Trump Jr. said. “900 million dollars of new lands purchased for the same purpose. New lands purchased to get you, your kids, your family, into the outdoors, and into the wild. 750 million dollars to the Great Lakes to preserve that incredible fishery. And almost a billion dollars to the everglades and Lake Okeechobee to save that area of Florida and all of the coastal fisheries surrounding it.”
In conclusion, Trump Jr. urges hunters to pay close attention to the issues of the election. “Make sure you recognize what’s actually going on,” he said. “Make sure that you realize that Donald Trump has delivered for you because you’re never going to hear about it from anyone else. I look forward to November 4, the day after the election, when I can get in the woods and start my season a little bit late. Till then I’ll be busy, but I look forward to seeing you out there.”
Twitter Sounds Off
After posting the video, the clip garnered a massive reaction from Twitter. A number of users voiced their support for Trump Jr. and his message to outdoorsmen.
While many voiced support, Trump Jr. also faced his fair share of criticisms:
