Honestly, at this point, it’s impossible to have never had your ears exposed to the famous Folgers jingle.
The coffee company has one of the most longstanding and recognizable jingles in the marketing game. Even if you despise Folgers coffee, a musical number will likely go through your head even for a second when you pass the product in the grocery store aisle.
If you hear that jingle from a distance, it may even be stuck in your head unknowingly for days. Now, “the best part of wakin’ up is Folgers in your cup” has its royalties for sale.
Folgers Jingle Royalties Up for Auction
Folgers is brewing up some change now that the jingle’s royalties are going up for auction.
According to TMZ, the jingle is going up for bidding starting at $63,000. There are already 16 bids as of now and it’s entering the final stages over at the Royalty Exchange. It’s going to be a pretty fierce bidding war for that famous jingle.
The jingle has earned Folgers a total of $38,164 since 2011. More than half of that has come in the past two years. Whoever walks away as the winner at the auction is going to have quite the investment on their hands. The jingle has been the focal point of commercials for years. Now, each time that jingle pops up on commercials, TV, movies, or anywhere else, a share of public performance royalties is going their way.
The jingle hasn’t been around forever, but Folgers has been a player in the coffee market since 1850.
The bid is currently at $70,700. The auction will wrap up on Thursday and then we’ll find out the future of “the best part of wakin’ up is Folgers in your cup.”
National Coffee Day
In terms of excellent timing, Folgers couldn’t have done any better. The coffee brand is going through this entire process right around National Coffee Day.
Folgers isn’t the only coffee brand looking to celebrate the very celebration-worthy holiday today. There are several places you can head to today, September 29, to get great deals.
Starbucks is celebrating the holiday as well as its 50th anniversary. The giant coffee chain is having customers bring a clean reusable cup into the store in order to get a free cup of its signature brew, Pike Place coffee.
As long as you’re a member of Dunkin’s loyalty program, you can get in on the deals today. The chain is giving away a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase. Krispy Kreme rewards members get a free brewed coffee and donut of their choice.
Several other smaller chains and local shops are also taking part in the fun and festive coffee-lovers holiday.
