Forget the ‘Home Alone’ House, You Can Stay in the Grinch’s Cave for $20

The holiday season is in full swing, and the options for fun ways to spend this time are endless. With travel restrictions preventing travel to foreign countries and limiting access to typical tourist spots, many are looking for domestic festivities. According to a recent report from AirBNB, leisure travel is the driving force behind sales. More and more folks are booking stays for leisure over business. Additionally, more and more families are opting to vacation closer to their home bases, most staying within 300 miles of home for their fun trips.

One of the reasons behind AirBNB’s surge in popularity is certainly due to the unique environment many homes are able to provide. In an effort to compete, vacation rental company Vasca is offering cheap unique stays reminiscent of why many travelers flock to AirBNB. This holiday season, Vasca is hosting a spot for families looking for a cheap and unique Christmas themed vacation. With the stay coming in at an impressively low rate, Vasca says the goal is not to make huge profits. Allison Lowrie, chief marketing officer at the rental company says the goal of the activation is experience-centric. “The goal for the activation is not revenue generation. It’s about creating an immersive experience for a few lucky guests and allowing fans around the world to participate in the merriment of the season,” says Lowrie.

The Grinch Cave

The stay in question provides “Grinch” fans an immersive experience. For just under $20, the exciting opportunity lets guests stay in the Grinch’s cave. Going above and beyond a cave themed room, the stay is in an actual cave. Excitingly, the room is carved out in the side of a stone mountain!

The lair is even decorated with well-thought out grinch gear. The stay features a music room, complete with the Grinch’s organ and Max’s drumset. Additionally, the lair leads to a bedroom, study, guest bed, and more. The kitchen is stocked with classics from The Grinch universe, including ‘who-hash’ and roastable beast. There’s thoughtful touches throughout the stay, including green fuzzy pants on the dresser. In honor of the movie’s original release date in 1957, the room is available to guests for $19.57.

In honor of the Grinch’s reclusive nature, the unique stay is on a secluded property near Boulder, Utah.

Home Alone This Year

For those with interest in a slightly different stay, there is an AirBNB option. At just $25 per night, travelers can stay in the house featured in the classic “Home Alone” movies. In a fun festive twist, the AirBNB host is “Buzz Mcallister” to further immerse guests.

In the “Home Alone” movies, Buzz Mcallister is main character Kevin Mcallister’s older brother. The listing description from the “host” Buzz says, “Though we’re older and wiser now (I’ve even got my own security firm), we’re never too old for holiday hijinks. So while we’re away on vacation (all of us, this time), I’m inviting one crew of mischief makers to let their inner eight-year-olds run free in my childhood home on Dec. 12.”
