As the FBI joins the North Port Police Department in their continued search for Brian Laundrie, the public hasn’t received many details surrounding the investigation into the homicide of Gabby Petito. They first initiated a search within the Carlton Reserve based on Brian’s parents’ word that he was last seen going for a hike. The authorities called off the initial search after only lasted a couple of days. However, it then ramped back up once again.
On the other hand, Dog the Bounty Hunter continues to lead another search in Florida. His reconnaissance focuses on the De Soto campground. This area hosted the Laundrie family as they camped there on two occasions recently. Islands surrounding the site, providing for perfect cover. As video surveillance from the area makes it into the hands of the FBI, some other interesting information has come to light. It involves Brian Laundrie reportedly purchasing a new cellphone before taking off.
Laundrie Family Lawyer Speaks About Phone Speculations
Immediately following news of Gabby Petito’s disappearance, people wanted answers. When Brian Laundrie returned to Florida without her, things got even more serious. People immediately demanded that police track the cell phone data of both Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie. Then, after the announcement of her homicide, rumors started flying. One such rumor involved the mention of a burner phone.
While neither the Laundrie family nor their lawyer would submit to that wording, they did admit a new phone was purchased. The official statement on the matter reads as follows: “I can confirm that a phone was purchased on September 4, 2021 and Brian opened an account with AT&T for that phone. (Not a burner). Brian left that phone at home the day he went for a hike in the preserve on September 14, 2021 and the FBI now has that phone.”
Reporters pressed him with more questions. “Do you know where Brian’s previous phone is? The one he had while traveling out West with Gabby (Petito)?”
His response involved one word only: “No.”
