The hunt for Gabby Petito’s boyfriend Brian Laundrie continues. Only now, reports are flooding in about Laundrie being spotted in North Carolina.
Earlier this week, Florida resident Dennis Davis claimed he saw Laundrie on the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina, near the border of Tennessee. Davis called 911 on Saturday, after the incident, and on Monday he released the full call with the dispatcher to Brian Entin of NewsNationNow.
“He was talking wild, he said that his girlfriend left him and he had to go out to California to see her,” Davis said in the audio clip. “He was acting funny. And I wasn’t sure what he looked like. And then … I went and parked and pulled up the photographs of him. I’m 99.99 percent sure that was him.”
Davis went on to describe the truck he saw the man who could be Gabby Petito’s boyfriend driving. He was too rattled by the man’s behavior to grab the license plate number, but he knows it was a white pickup truck. The hiker believes it was potentially a newer Ford F-150.
“It wasn’t like an old beater. It was a newer truck,” Davis told the dispatcher.
After the release of the call, even more reports from North Carolina came flooding in. At least a dozen people, per Yahoo! News, claimed to see Gabby Petito’s boyfriend near the border of Tennessee and North Carolina. The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office released a statement about all the tips coming in on Facebook.
“We have received a number of calls regarding the sighting of Brian Laundrie over the past several days, each one being investigated thoroughly and areas of concern searched, but all to no avail,” the statement reads. “We will continue to respond and fully investigate all calls for service related to the nationwide search for Mr. Laundrie within our jurisdiction.”
Reports Spot Gabby Petito’s Boyfriend Brian Laundrie in Several States, and Even Out of the Country
The authorities continue to track down Brian Laundrie as the main person of interest in the death of Gabby Petito. Nobody’s seen him in the last three weeks, according to his family. He told his parents that he was going hiking in a nature preserve near the family’s home in North Port, Florida, and has since disappeared.
At first, the FBI and police concentrated all their efforts on finding Laundrie in the Carlton Reserve, where he said he was going. Eventually, Dog the Bounty Hunter joined the hunt and started searching Fort De Soto Park near St. Petersburg.
Now, NBC News reports that people claim to be spotting Laundrie in North Carolina, Montana, Alabama, and even Canada. However, the FBI says that none of these are confirmed sightings of Laundrie.
