Gabby Petito Case: Brian Laundrie Left Home Without Wallet or Cellphone, Family Attorney Confirms

As law enforcement continues to search for Gabby Petito’s fiancee, Brian Laundrie, new information about his disappearance is now surfacing. This includes how Laundrie last left his Florida home.

According to The New York Post, the lawyer of Gabby Petito’s fiancee, Steven Bertolino, stated that Brian Laundrie left home without both his wallet and cellphone the day he disappeared (September 14th). The lawyer also told the media outlet that his parents are worried about him. They also believe he could harm himself. 

The parents of Gabby Petito’s fiance last saw their son on September 14th. He went for a hike in the Sarasota County nature preserve, Carlton Reserve. His parents filed a missing person’s report nearly four days later. 

What Happened to Gabby Petito & Brian Laundrie?

Gabby Petito and Laundrie were on a road trip. The couple was documenting the trip on social media and YouTube. The couple had tension when they were questioned by Utah police for a domestic dispute. Petito and Laundrie split for the night and resumed their trip.

Gabby Petito last spoke to her parents on August 25th. Days later Laundrie reportedly returned home in her van without Petito. Her family filed a missing report for her on September 11th. Laundrie refused to answer any questions related to Gabby Petito’s disappearance prior to his hiking trip in the Carlton Reserve.

Just a couple of days after Laundrie was reported missing, Petito’s body was discovered at the Grand Teton National Park. Following the autopsy, her death has been ruled a homicide by the FBI. Authorities have also named Laundrie a person of interest in Petito’s case. There is also a warrant is for Laundrie. But it is for him allegedly using a Capital One debit card without authorization. 

Police wrapped up the search in Carlton Reserve for the night on Friday, Sept. 24th. North Port Police PIO, Josh Taylor, shared with Fox News that some members of the police are remaining on scene. “We will be back out throughout the weekend. Focusing on areas of more likelihood across the Reserve.”

Shots Reportedly Heard Nearly Brian Laundrie’s Home 

According to Fox News, shots were reportedly heard near Brian Laundrie’s home. North Port Police PIO, Josh Taylor, tells the media outlet that the event occurred around 6:45 p.m. and the police were alerted. There was no reporting of injuries. There is also no proof of any shots.

The office also tells the media outlet there are also no reports from the media members who were standing outside the Laundrie home at the time.

Fox News further reported that a total of 12 police vehicles showed up. They entered the Laundrie home as well as other homes in the neighborhood around 6:45 p.m. but all left shortly after. A Fox affiliate also stated that the call may have been bogus.
