Reporters and protesters alike continue to congregate outside of the Laundrie home in North Port, Florida. A makeshift memorial to Gabby Petito was placed in front of the house, folks have been cited for noise violations, and Dog the Bounty Hunter even made an appearance.

For the most part, the Laundries have kept themselves holed up inside the house with all of the activity outside. Last night, however, Chris Laundrie was spotted going to get his mail under cover of darkness.

Fox News captured footage of Chris Laundrie walking out to his mailbox in the middle of the night. A reporter for the news outlet called out a series of questions.

“Where’s your son, Chris? How come you don’t come out in the day time? How do you feel about Gabby, do you have a message for her parents?” the reporter asked.

As you might expect, Brian Laundrie’s dad didn’t respond. Instead, he walked back inside the house.

Many protesters have gathered outside of the home because they feel that the Laundrie parents are hindering the search for their son, Brian Laundrie. In doing so, the protesters believe that the parents are making the investigation of Gabby Petito’s homicide more difficult. Brian is wanted for unauthorized debit card usage but may have been the last person to see Gabby Petito alive.

As a result, it’s nearly impossible for either Laundrie parent to go outside without being bombarded by questions or pleas. There has been a consistent police presence at the address since the Gabby Petito news went public. So the threat of violence seems relatively low. Nonetheless, the Laundries find themselves in an unenviable position.

Would Brian Laundrie’s Parents Be Charged in the Case of Gabby Petito?

This question has been a point of focus for many over the past few weeks. As far as the law is concerned, Brian Laundrie’s parents have cooperated with police. They didn’t resist a short FBI entry of the house, which they reportedly carried out to collect samples should a DNA match be required. However, they have hardly say anything since the news of Gabby Petito’s homicide broke.

“If they provided false information to law enforcement that let Brian Laundrie take off and get a week head start… Or if the parents sent law enforcement on a wild goose chase… Searching the preserve when he wasn’t there, there’s certainly a basis to charge them,” federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani told Fox News recently.

Whether or not Brian Laundrie’s parents misled law enforcement is one thing. Proving that they did so in court is another beast entirely.

“It’s going to be hard-pressed to prove [wrongdoing] unless they get actual evidence on the parents, which I don’t think they’re going to have,” homicide detective Pat Diaz told Fox News.
