Gabby Petito Case: Internet Sleuths Claim She Used Codeword for Danger from Eminem Song

by Michael Freeman

With the FBI recently announcing Gabby Petito’s death was a homicide, people have been examining all posts and videos surrounding her and Brian Laundrie. In fact, Internet sleuths think the last text from Gabby’s phone contained a codeword for danger from an Eminem song.

The FBI released the last text Gabby sent from her phone, which happens to contain the word “Stan.” The text in question was sent on August 27 and reads “can you help Stan, I just keep getting his voicemails and missed calls.” Savvy people on the web claim the word “Stan” is actually a codeword for danger.

However, Gabby’s grandfather shares the name Stan, so it appears she may be talking about him. Nevertheless, social media users reference the Eminem song where a male partner ties up his pregnant girlfriend before killing her. What makes the text suspicious is Gabby’s mother reportedly said she rarely calls him by that name and thought the text was “odd.” Gabby’s phone was turned off later that day.

Similarly, online detectives also claim Gabby was pregnant after finding a baby-themed Pinterest board and a “sonogram” in one of the pair’s videos. One Internet sleuth watched a video Petito and Laundrie released, sharing an image that looked like a “sonogram” on a dirt track near the pair. Petito also reportedly made a Pinterest board titled “Oh Baby,” fueling speculation further. The page contains several links to items of clothing previously for sale. Among these are onesies, and curiously enough, crocheted bibs.

It should be noted at this point both the pregnancy claims and Petito’s text warning about danger are pure speculation.
