From the very beginning of Gabby Petito’s case, Brian Laundrie and his parents, Chris and Roberta, have been unwilling to assist officers in any kind of way. They hired Long Island attorney Steven Bertolino. This happened shortly after Gabby Petito’s family filed a missing person’s report Sept. 11.

Now the lawyer, who received his Juris Doctor from Hofstra Law in 1994, is receiving tons of backlash in the form of Yelp reviews.

Several one star-reviews of Bertolino’s business page are shaming him for representing the Laundrie family.

According to The New York Post, outraged citizens are flocking to the site to share their thoughts about his brief and vague statements.

“Advising a person not to corporate with police who’re searching for a missing girl. You should be held responsible and chargeable as well. Amazes me how scum like you sleep at night,” one review said.

Users called him fame-seeking. Another reviewer wrote, “Just as disgusting as Brian and the laundrie family.”

The attorney explained the Laundries’ silence in a statement. However, this did little to reassure the public or Gabby’s family last week.

“In my experience, intimate partners are often the first person law enforcement focuses their attention on in cases like this and the warning that any statement made will be used against you is true, regardless of whether my client had anything to do with Ms. Petito’s disappearance,” Bertolino said at the time.

Further, Brian Laundrie is the only person of interest in Gabby Petito’s case. His strange behavior is being highly scrutinized by public officials and web sleuths alike.

The FBI recently searched the Laundrie home and escorted Roberta and Chris off the premises, though it’s unclear if they’re being charged with anything. Brian’s car was also towed from the property.

Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie’s Relationship

Gabby and Brian had a vibrant online presence, however, their real-life relationship may have been more complicated. The two were traveling across the country in a 2012 Ford Transit. They visited several national parks, sharing their camping photos along the way.

Additionally, an altercation triggered Utah police to stop the two travelers after a witness saw Gabby and Brian fighting. A 911 caller believed the argument got physical, with the “gentleman slapping the woman.”

Gappy Petito’s family last heard from her in late August. Authorities discovered a body resembling her description on Sept. 19. They were searching the Grand Teton National Park, where the couple was traveling when officials found the remains.

Since that time, an outpouring of support for Gabby and her family have taken over social media. Many are sharing the family’s heartbreak and offering condolences.

An autopsy of the body found will happen Tuesday. Details of this autopsy could confirm the identity of the remains and possibly determine a cause of death.

The search for Brian Laundrie continues in the Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County.
