Law enforcement authorities in the Gabby Petito case are concluding Tuesday night’s search for her fiance, 23-year-old Brian Laundrie.

As it currently stands, Brian Laundrie is the only person of interest so far in the Gabby Petito homicide case. On Tuesday, officials with the FBI officially confirmed that the human remains found near a Wyoming national park did, indeed, belong to Gabby Petito. As a result, the search efforts for her fiancé have since gotten more intense. But those efforts will have to wait until Wednesday morning to pick back up again.

Brian Entin, a correspondent for News Nation Now posted an update on Twitter, saying that police have concluded the search for Laundrie for the night.

“Just in from police: Our search of the Carlton and nearby lands has concluded for the evening. Nothing of note. The current plan is to return Wednesday with a similar operation.”

Gabby Petito Case: Parents of Brian Laundrie Said He Went Hiking Last Tuesday

Tuesday marks one week since Brian Laundrie’s parents last heard from him. They claim that he told them he was going hiking at the Carlton Reserve — a 25,000-acre park in Sarasota county. That’s where search crews have been working over the weekend and so far into this week. According to Friends of the Carlton Reserve, a non-profit group, the preserve is closed until further notice.

Other than the initial tweet from the News Nation Now correspondent, he did answer one question from a follower.

“Why are they so confident that he’s there?” one person asked.

Entin quickly responded saying, “The parents told police that he went hiking there. That’s all we know. It’s possible the FBI knows more which is why they have narrowed the search down.”

However, there have been some pretty heavy rainfalls in the area. As a matter of fact, the North Port Police Department labeled the area as “unforgiving terrain.” They even added that there are some sections of the Carlton Reserve that are waist-deep in water.

Let’s make no mistake here, the entire country has been following this case very closely. For all too many of us, this story has hit close to home. Gabby Petito was just a 22-year-old girl with her entire life in front of her. And as a result, law enforcement officials are making sure to dot their I’s and cross their T’s.

Part of that process started on Monday as several FBI agents executed a search warrant at the home of Brian Laundrie’s parents. That’s where Brian and Gabby had been living prior to them going on their cross-country trip. By the looks of videos coming in from the search, FBI agents had filled up several boxes full of evidence related to the case.
