PHOTOS: While the world awaits official confirmation over the body found in Wyoming, the public is tending to a makeshift memorial for Gabby Petito down in North Port, Florida.
NORTH PORT, FL – SEPTEMBER 20: Photographer Octavio Jones is watching the heartbreaking scene unfold at the City Hall of North Port Florida. As he does, the public continues to add to a makeshift memorial for 22-year-old Gabby Petito.
The memorial, which is quickly growing in size, lies at the heart of the city she once called home. Some of the signs – laminated to withstand the elements – are at least a week old. They read “Where’s Gabby???” and “Bring Gabby Petito Home!”
Steadily, however, Floridians have been adding “Justice for Gabby” artifacts, with many dropping flowers. The change in memoriam comes after Sunday, Sept. 19’s tragic discovery of a body near Grand Teton National Park. FBI officials say the remains match the description of Gabby Petito. Now, the world waits for official confirmation.

Some are even traveling from Gabby’s home state of New York to pay their respects at the memorial. Doreen Folk has made the journey, seen below placing flowers and a teddy bear for Gabby Petito on the morning of Monday, Sept. 20.
Local resident James Taylor, 69, adds another bouquet of flowers to the memorial Monday morning. In the mere hours since these photos were taken, the memorial continues to grow to a remarkable size.
