Gabby Petito’s Dad Demands Justice for His Daughter in New Post: ‘We Have to Do Better’

In the days since Gabby Petito’s death, her family has vowed to start a foundation in her name and help locate missing people. Their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed by the public, who’ve largely praised them for their newfound mission in the wake of such a tragedy. Now, Gabby’s father, Joseph Petito has taken on a new campaign, it appears.

In a Twitter post on Monday, Petito demanded justice for Gabby. This time, however, he acknowledged the link between her case and domestic violence.

“We have to do better. Changes are coming. now is the time. Don’t be silent,” Petito posted, along with a photo of his three children, Gabby notably in the center.

The 22-year-old’s case garnered national attention after she and fiancé Brian Laundrie documented their cross-country trip in a converted van. Further, the two shared numerous posts on social media accounts. By all appearances, their travels seemed to be a romantic getaway for two – surrounded by the most beautiful sights in U.S. national parks.

Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie Rocky Relationship

However, their fairytale road trip turned dark when Gabby and Brian were pulled over following a domestic altercation. Utah law enforcement questioned the couple. Gabby was noticeably crying. Brian had scratched dotting his arm and face. Though a witness said she saw Brian hitting Gabby moments before the two got into their van and drove away, it was Gabby who admitted fault in the argument. No charges were filed.

Since then, the body cam footage has sparked debate online. Was she a victim of domestic violence or some kind of toxic relationship? According to close friends, yes. She and Brian could be very good or very bad, depending on the day, friends said.

Further, Gabby Petito’s remains were found in Grand Teton National Park – both hers and Brian’s last known location – September 19. She was reported missing Sept. 11. Brian returned home to Florida Sept. 1 without Gabby. He refused to cooperate with law enforcement and soon disappeared. He’s currently missing.

An autopsy report for Gabby also concluded her cause of death was a homicide. Brian remains the only person of interest in the case.

While officials also haven’t released any information or evidence that ties Brian to Gabby’s death, the internet has gone wild with speculation about his involvement. His and his family’s refusal to cooperate with authorities is also raising suspicions among web sleuths.

Additionally, both the FBI and North Port Police have spent millions trying to locate Brian Laundrie. His family believed he initially went into the nearby Carlton Reserve – a Sarasota County wildlife area – with a backpack. After combing the area for days, authorities found no sign of him. The search for the 23-year-old is ongoing.
