Brian Laundrie is still in hiding somewhere. His parents reported him missing two days after authorities named him the person of interest in Gabby Petito’s disappearance and murder. According to them, Laundrie went hiking in the swampy Carlton Reserve near their home. However, weeks of exhaustive searches have turned up no sign of the fugitive. One Florida cowboy thinks he knows why.

Alan McEwen is a cattle rancher whose land is near the swampy reserve. As a result, he is very familiar with the area. In fact, he has had to brave the preserve’s dangers several times to bring in wandering cattle. McEwen is also an avid outdoorsman. This makes him a great addition to the team searching for Brian Laundrie. He has been helping authorities look for the 23-year-old YouTuber, but doesn’t think they’ll find him.

McEwen spoke to Fox News about why he doesn’t think Brian Laundrie is in the reserve. “There’s no surviving out here, I don’t know how to say it,” he told them. He has thirty years of experience with the inhospitable land, so he should know.

Brian Laundrie often bragged to his friends and coworkers about his survival skills. Many people who know him have come forward to say that he is skilled at surviving in harsh areas with little to no provisions. However, McEwen doesn’t think Laundrie, or anyone else for that matter, has what it takes to stay in Carlton Reserve for days on end.

McEwen said that he has been in and out of the reserve for years. “I have learned a lot in my life, and one thing I know is no one is gonna survive out there for two weeks on foot.”

Carlton Reserve’s Many Dangers

Carlton Reserve is inhospitable in the best of times. However, torrential rains have flooded the area in the past two weeks. Waist-deep floodwater makes the stretch of swamp and forest even less hospitable to human life. “Unless he’s got a butt like a duck and can float, he’s not in there,” McEwen told Fox News.

However, Brian Laundrie would have to contend with more than wet conditions. Carlton Reserve is home to deadly venomous snakes, black bears, panthers, wild boars, and massive alligators. Laundrie would have to be incredibly lucky to fend off a forest full of hungry and territorial predators. At the same time, McEwen pointed out that another creature loves the swampy conditions. “Unless he’s got a hide like a gator, mosquitoes will carry him right off.” In short, if Laundrie is in there, he’s not having a good time.

Brian Laundrie Probably Isn’t in the Carlton Reserve, Dead or Alive

Many people wonder if Brian Laundrie wandered out into the uninhabitable land and died. On the other hand, McEwen is pretty sure that’s not the case. “Anything dead you find in the woods, you’re gonna look up, you’re gonna see buzzards flying like crazy. No buzzards, nobody is my theory. I haven’t seen any buzzards flying.”
