The family of Gabby Petito announced Tuesday they got tattoos in honor of the 22-year-old. They chose a design based on one Petito had on her arm. The tattoos read “Let it Be” on their right arms with a wave and a triangle with flowers on their left arms.

The family showed off the matching ink during a press conference on Tuesday. Gabby’s mom, Nicole Schmidt, got an extra tattoo that reads “Love” on her left arm, as well, The Sun reported.

“I wanted to have her with me all the time,” she said during the media event. “I hope people are inspired by her. “She’s touched so many lives already. We’re so proud of her. We’re going to keep the light going and help a lot of people if we can.”

It was the first time Petito’s family addressed the media since the FBI found her body earlier this month.

Gabby Petito loved the Beatles song “Let it Be,” and had the words tattooed on her forearm as well. Her stepfather, Jim Schmidt, incorporated lyrics from the song into his eulogy for Petito on Sunday.

“And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree; there will be an answer, let it be,” he said. “It’s OK to mourn for Gabby. It’s OK to feel sorrow and pain, but we want to celebrate her and how she lived her life. We want you to hold onto all those wonderful memories we shared with her because that would be the answer; let it be.”

Petito last disappeared on a cross-country trip with her fiancee, Brian Laundrie. The FBI found her body at the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming earlier this month. Police haven’t released her cause of death.

Police identified her from her tattoos, it was reported.

Family Starts Gabby Petito Foundation

Gabby Petito’s family announced recently that they were starting the Gabby Petito Foundation. The group will help families of missing children with resources to get them home.

Her dad, Joe Petito, announced the foundation on Twitter.

“The Gabby Petito Foundation. No one should have to find their child on their own,” he wrote. “We are creating this foundation to give resources and guidance on bringing their children home. We are looking to help people in similar situations as Gabby.”

The foundation website features a painting of Gabby Petito with a halo and angel wings.

The family said they want to use their tragedy to inspire good in the world.

Gabby’s dad said during the memorial service for her on Sunday that she had an adventurous spirit that others should follow.

“I want you to take a look at these pictures, and I want you to be inspired by Gabby,” he said. “If there’s a trip you guys want to take, take it now. Do it now while you have the time. If there is a relationship that you’re in that might not be the best thing for you, leave it now.”

He appeared to be referring to Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie‘s relationship, which was reportedly violent at times.
