Gabby Petito’s family just spoke for the first time since her disappearance. Those present included both Gabby’s parents, step-parents, close family friends, and their lawyer Richard Stafford. After making their powerful statements, the family also answered questions from the press. Among one of the most frequently asked questions included inquiry as to the Petito family’s stance on other missing persons cases. The family showed incredible grace and humility in these difficult circumstances by vowing to help other missing people. Here are the details.

Gabby Petito’s Family Address the Role of Media In Her Case

The Petito family’s press conference covered a lot of pressing questions and made a lot of powerful statements regarding their daughter’s homicide. They also announced that at least four of them got matching tattoos designed by Gabby herself. They read “Let it Be” as their daughter’s tattoo did.

As one of the most highly publicized missing persons cases in recent times, the Petito family says they are hyper-aware of that very fact. They understand that many parents find themselves in similar shoes without the same support. For that reason, Gabby’s father said the following on the matter: “I want to ask law enforcement to help everyone who is missing.”

He also went on to urge the public to do the same. He said other stories deserve just as much coverage, but this can only be possible with everyone’s support. Specifically, he is quoted as saying: “And if you don’t do that for other people that are missing, that’s a shame because it’s not just Gabby that deserves that. So, look to yourselves on why that’s not being done.”

Gabby Petito’s mother and stepmother were also present. One of them talked about how quickly the media has advanced this case. She says her daughter’s case couldn’t have advanced so quickly without the masses sharing her Missing poster. She also mentioned that details of their Gabby Petito Foundation are still in the air because they’ve had so much to process in such a short amount of time. The family repeatedly thanked everyone for their ongoing support.

Reporter Brian Entin shared a snapshot of their statement to his Twitter account:

The Family Has Received Cards From All Over the World

The Petito family lawyer, Richard Stafford, detailed just how far and wide the family’s support has been. In fact, cards continue to pour in from across the world with words of condolences, thoughts, and prayers. Families in similar situations are also reaching out with their stories of the loss of loved ones. While Stafford and the Petitos chose not to disclose any of the details surrounding these other stories at this time, they did mention there would be a time and place to do so.
