Hillary Clinton reacted to the first 2020 presidential debate, causing a variety of comments on Twitter as a result. Supporters and critics on both sides of the political spectrum also took the opportunity to voice their opinions.

Moderated by Fox News reporter Chris Wallace, last night’s (Sept. 29) presidential debate saw Donald Trump and Joe Biden face off for the first time. During the debate, the two presidential candidates got into a heated exchange of words, devolving into yelling matches. Both also interrupted each each other, with Trump often instigating by talking over his rival.

During one point, Biden told Trump, “Will you just shut up, man?”

Lawyer and author Jill Filipovic tweeted Clinton about the exchange, “I so feel for Hillary right now because I’m positive she wanted to say that and couldn’t.”

Clinton’s response was short but to the point. She replied, “You have no idea.”

Hillary Clinton retweeted Joe Biden’s tweet about Donald Trump.

Since the debate, Clinton has been vocal on Twitter about last night’s exchange of words. She retweeted one of Biden’s tweets, “There’s no other way to put it: the President of the United States refused to disavow white supremacists on the debate stage last night”. In the tweet, Biden included a video from Charlottesville in which white nationalists carried Tiki torches before a march in 2017.

In the tweet, Clinton wrote, “Shocking but unsurprising. Vote him out.”

Some Twitter users agreed with Clinton’s retweet, also adding that they believe Trump’s voter base are “white supremacists”. One user said they were “sick of Trump” since he became president, comparing him to the Kardashians.

Meanwhile, some users called the tweet “lies” spread by Clinton and Biden. One user took a screenshot of an interview Trump did before in which he condemned neo-Nazis. “I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white supremacists because they should be condemned totally,” Trump allegedly said in the screenshot.
