Eagle, Colorado state troopers recently had their hands full, but not in a way you might expect. Four horses escaped from a rodeo and were running on Interstate 70 as troopers tried to stop them.

State Trooper Jake Best lightly told WKYT “I wouldn’t say it was a typical day in Eagle County.” The horses reportedly took off running after becoming spooked by coming into contact with an electric fence. They immediately ran out of the rodeo grounds and after taking a detour along a fairgrounds road, ran onto the interstate. Officials say this happened after the rodeo ended.

However, it gets better. Best said a cowboy tossed his hat into the fray to assist the troopers. “We even saw a cowboy riding down the interstate, trying to catch up to them, to rope them and stop that lead horse. So, my goal was to try and get in front of them and slow them down.”

At this point, several cowboys in the area gathered and worked with state troopers to wrangle the runaway horses. Though hardly a common occurrence, Best expresses thanks for the help. “We were lucky there were enough cowboys in town. Otherwise, we would’ve had a much larger mess.”

With some quick thinking and a radio call, Best managed to stop the horses. He rallied other state troopers and the Gypsum Fire Department to block traffic. With nowhere else to go, the horses finally slowed down. Fortunately, none of them were injured and all were wrangled before being taken back to the rodeo.

Mark Wahlberg Spends Heartwarming Moment With Daughter As She Rides Her Horse

Mark Wahlberg is no stranger to heartfelt posts and messages. In a touching Instagram post a few days ago, Wahlberg is seen with his daughter, Grace, while she rides a horse.

“Trying to give her some advice and a few tips but she doesn’t need it !! She ROCKS❤️her and Daisy what a team,” the happy father captions the post.

Cheering Grace on, she flashes a smile so big it’s difficult to tell if she or Wahlberg are enjoying themselves more. Interestingly, Wahlberg stated years ago to Redbook having his daughters changed him for the better.

“Having two daughters changed my perspective on a lot of things, and I definitely have a newfound respect for women. And I think I finally became a good and real man when I had a daughter. Women don’t get the credit they deserve. I was at my daughter’s ballet class and I was on the phone making a business call and watching her on the monitor, and I realized how hard it is to work and be there for your kids.”

It sounds like the women in Wahlberg’s life helped shape his perspective and attitude on spreading love. It’s not surprising, considering months ago he discussed a lovely ritual he shared with his late mother.
