Hundreds of Retired Military Leaders Endorse President Donald Trump for Re-Election

More than 200 retired military leaders endorsed President Donald Trump for his re-election campaign. The veterans came together as a group to pledge their support to Trump.

The Trump campaign released a letter, which the group had signed. Retired Army and Air Force generals and Navy admirals are among the veterans in the group. In the letter, the retired leaders said Trump could better handle the dangers facing the country than his opposition. They said Trump could protect “the American way of life.”

“The 2020 election affords the American people an urgently needed opportunity to affirm their devotion to the Constitution of the United States and to the American way of life,” the letter read.

The military veterans said they believe Donald Trump is ‘best’ to lead the country.

As former members of the military, the group said they took an “oath” to defend the country from “enemies” both local and abroad. In the letter, the group mentioned the coronavirus pandemic and how it “tested” Trump’s capabilities as a leader.

“As retired military officers, we believe that Donald J. Trump has been tested as few other presidents have and is the proven leader to confront these dangers,” they said.

In the letter, the group of military veterans also criticized the Democratic party and the Obama-Biden administration. They said the military felt “neglected” by Trump’s predecessor. The letter cited military budget cuts under the Obama administration.

In the letter, the retired military leaders said they believed the Democratic party and a potential Biden administration posed a threat to the country’s national security.

“With the Democratic party welcoming to socialists and Marxists, our historic way of life is at stake,” the letter said.

The Trump campaign released a statement regarding the military veterans’ endorsements.

“Our service members and veterans have finally found a strong advocate in President Trump,” the statement said. The statement continued, saying Trump has “rebuilt” the military and “overhauled the Department of Veterans Affairs”. It also said Trump “launched groundbreaking initiatives to assist military families and prevent veteran suicide.”

“In contrast, Joe Biden’s record on the military and veterans is one of failure: debilitating budget cuts, failed foreign policy decisions, and an inability to provide our nation’s heroes with the quality health care they deserve,” the Trump campaign also added in the statement.
