Joe Biden Responds to Death of Six American Soldiers in Egypt, Says He is ‘Honoring Their Sacrifice’

In a tweet on Thursday, Joe Biden paid tribute to the American soldiers who lost their lives on Tiran Island.

Biden offers his remarks on the U.S. troops members who perished in a Helicopter crash.

In the tweet, Biden says, “I extend my deep condolences to the loved ones of the peacekeepers, including 6 American service members, who died on Tiran Island, and wish a speedy recovery to the surviving American.”

But Biden continues further, “I join all Americans in honoring their sacrifice, as I keep their loved ones in my prayers.”

Biden and The Military

As the Military Times reports, the service members were flying on a routine patrol mission over the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. Furthering the extent of the accident, the Military Times says that there is “zero indication of malicious activity involved in the crash.”

Although the event is tragic, it is good news that no activity outside of malfunction is the cause of the crash. Yet the U.S. and the world still mourns the death of all those individuals who lost their lives. The service members in Egypt work for a company called Multinational Force and Observers (MFO).

The MFO released a report with a statement.

“We are deeply saddened to report that eight uniformed MFO members were killed; six U.S. citizens, one French, and one Czech. One U.S. MFO Member survived and was medically evacuated.”

Albeit just yesterday, the U.S. celebrated the lives of Veterans across America. But, today is a bitter reminder that there are many who are still sacrificing their lives for the United States.

Biden’s two sons both served in the military. He has also worked closely with the military over the course of his political career. His thoughts certainly will not go unnoticed by the armed service community.

The Pentagon and Secretary of Defense Chris Miller released a statement.

“Yesterday we recognized the sacrifice of millions of American veterans who have defended our nation for generations, and today we are tragically reminded of the last full measure our uniformed warriors may pay for their service.”
