Kirstie Alley is speaking out about who she plans to vote for in the upcoming 2020 Presidential election. The 69-year-old actress took to social media to share that she is endorsing President Donald Trump for a second term.

The former Cheers actress writes: “I’m voting for @realDonaldTrump because he’s NOT a politician. I voted for him 4 years ago for this reason and shall vote for him again for this reason. He gets things done quickly and he will turn the economy around quickly. There you have it folks there you have it.”

Responding to the Backlash

Shortly after posting the tweet, Kirstie Alley trended on Twitter with thousands of other users weighing in on her thoughts on the election. Alley went on to respond to a number of those responses.

In one of her subsequent tweets, Alley explains that she’s been on the receiving end of a heavy amount of “name-calling” from those who oppose her political opinions.

“Don’t think I’ve ever seen so much name-calling in my life,” she writes. “Definitely not on my site here anyway I guess I’m not allowed to have a viewpoint without being called a really nasty names (sic) by what I’m going to suppose are really nasty people.”

Alley also responded to one user that accused her of voting for Donald Trump because she has to “pay the orange Piper for their PPP loan.”

She responded by saying, “What the hell does that mean I need to know what PPP means and what do you mean another one? What s—-y comment…”

Kirstie Alley is ‘Sticking to her Guns’

According to one tweet, Alley explains that she’s encountered a number of users that are treating her poorly for her stance. One user tweeted at Alley writing, “Makes you glad you aren’t a Democrat anymore, eh? Me too.”

The Look Who’s Talking star reacted by writing: “Never encountered such horrible people in my life…I’ve been lucky I guess.”

In her most recent tweet, Alley explains that the backlash hasn’t made her change her mind.

“Stick to your guns,” she writes. “Not always easy to be under fire but always easier than going against your own integrity. & JUST REMEMBER: if it takes thousands to try & bring you down, you must be one powerful Mfer Love wins.”
