On January 23, legendary broadcaster Larry King died at the age of 87. He leaves behind three children over the course of eight marriages.
Two of Larry King’s children, Andy and Chaia King, died in 2020 unexpectedly. Andy was 65-years-old when he had a heart attack in late July. Chaia died a few weeks later, shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer. She was 51-years-old.
Larry King has three sons left to grieve his death, 59-year-old Larry King Jr., 21-year-old Chance King, and 20-year-old Cannon King.
Larry King’s Sons Remember “Lovingly Obsessed” Father
The three sons took to social media to post an emotional tribute to their father.
“We are heartbroken over our father’s death, and together with our extended family, mourn his passing. The world knew Larry King as a great broadcaster and interviewer, but to us, he was ‘dad.’ He was the man who lovingly obsessed over our daily schedules and our well-being, and who took such immense pride in our accomplishments — large, small, or imagined. And, through it all, we knew without a doubt in the world that he loved us more than life itself. He was an amazing father, and he was fiercely loyal to those lucky enough to call him a friend. We will miss him every single day of our lives.”
At the end of the post, the brothers thanked fans for their love and asked them to remember Larry King in a special way. They said to please donate to the American Heart Association or the Beverly Hills Fire Department EMS, both of which helped with Larry King’s care.
“The outpouring of love and the remembrances of his remarkable career have touched us deeply, and we are so thankful. In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask consideration of a donation to the American Heart Association or the Beverly Hills Fire Department EMS, to which a debt of gratitude is owed for the wonderful care they provided to our dad in his final years.”
Although no cause of death was given after Larry Kings’ passing, he was hospitalized with COVID-19 later in the year. In addition, the broadcaster had multiple health scares in recent history. He suffered a heart attack, lung and prostate cancer, as well as type two diabetes. King also underwent quintuple bypass surgery in 1987.
Larry King was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1989 and had a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
