New autopsy details have emerged in the case of Benjamin Keough, who shot himself in July.
Benjamin Keough is the son of Lisa Marie Presley and Danny Keough, and grandson of Elvis and Priscilla Presley.
The reports showed that 27-year-old Keough had both alcohol and cocaine in his system at the time of his death. The suicide came after an argument with his girlfriend, Diana Pinto, which was caught on surveillance video.
He was found inside his family’s mansion in LA by Pinto, who heard the gunshot around 6 a.m. He locked himself in the bathroom, but she picked the lock with a bobby pin. Once inside, she called the police, but Keough was already dead.
According to the LA County Coroner’s office, they found both cocaine and alcohol in Keough’s system, but the amounts are still unknown.
History of Mental Illness for Keough
Although his death is tragic, the family admits that it is not a huge surprise due to his struggles with mental illness and drug abuse. The coroner also mentioned Keough’s battle with “major depression,” where he would not leave his bedroom for days at a time.
He had tried to take his life six months prior but was unsuccessful and spent three weeks in rehab recovering. This was also his third time attempting rehab, however, he never fully completed a treatment.
Presley Family Tree
Keough was said by his mother to have an “uncanny” resemblance to her father, Elvis. The King of Rock and Roll never got to meet his grandson after a heart attack in 1977. Lisa Marie Presley was just nine years old at the time.
Lisa Marie Presley also has had four husbands. Benjamin Keough was one of two children Danny Keough and Lisa Marie Presley had while married from 1988 until their divorce in 1994. She has two more children, Finley and Harper, with ex-husband Micheal Lockwood, who she was married to from 2006-2016.
