General Mills is finally fulfilling everyone’s childhood wish by selling pouches of just the Lucky Charm marshmallows.
For a limited-time only, the cereal company is selling six-ounce packages of Just Magical Marshmallows for $3.99. Like the cereal, the pouches will be available in eight flavors.
“Lucky Charms fans have been asking for this for years,” Jessica TeBrake, assistant manager of brand experience for Lucky Charms, said in a statement. “They’ve had the opportunity to win Lucky Charms marshmallow-only boxes in the past, but now have the ability to purchase the Just Magical Marshmallows. We hope it brings a little bit of magic and joy to their day.”
An ad campaign saw Lucky Charms marshmallows lose their magic.
Earlier this month, General Mills launched an ad campaign that saw the cereal’s marshmallows begin to lose their magic, according to People. As a result, fans of the cereal could help restore their powers by posting a video of them singing a special song. Across the country, fans participated, singing, “Hearts, Stars, and Horseshoes. Clovers and Blue Moons. Unicorns, Rainbows, and Tasty Red Balloons!” Actress Tamera Mowry, of The Real and Sister, Sister fame, even got in on the fun. In an Instagram post, Mowry sang the song with her kids.
“To thank our fans for helping us restore this magic, we’re celebrating the launch of the Just Magical Marshmallows with a spectacle that embodies the magic of Lucky Charms,” said Mindy Murray, a senior brand experience manager for the cereal.
In celebration, the company will surprise onlookers in Los Angeles on Aug. 31 and New York City on Sept. 1 with a “spectacular in the sky,” according to the press release. General Mills isn’t the only company with a change to their product. Similarly, McDonald’s announced they would be adding a spicy chicken nugget to their menu.
