One of the best ways to celebrate holidays at home is with Macy’s. They have two of the biggest events every year. In the fall, they bring us the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Watching that event on television is a tradition in many homes. However, during the summer, they pull out all the stops for the Fourth of July celebration. Last year, their display was minimal due to COVID restrictions. However, this year, Macy’s fireworks display is back in a big way.
It’s going to be an incredible event for those in attendance as well as those watching at home. There will be plenty of fireworks lighting up the New York skyline. Additionally, the stars will be shining bright on stage. The Macy’s fireworks event will also include performances from Reba McEntire, OneRepublic, Blake Shelton, Coldplay, and more. Also, the United States Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus will perform.
If this sounds like a great way to spend your evening, you’re in luck. The Macy’s Fireworks Display will be broadcast live on NBC. The show starts at 8 pm Eastern Time. Fireworks will start at about 9:25. The entire broadcast will run for about two hours. If you don’t have cable, don’t worry. There are several online options. For instance, Fubo, Sling, and Hulu with Live TV will all stream the event online. AT&T TV and YouTube TV will have the event as well.
More About the Macy’s Fireworks Display
This year’s Macy’s Fireworks Display will be one of the record books. The display will include more than 65,000 shells bursting above the City that Never Sleeps. They will launch from five different barges anchored in the East River, according to a press release. The display will be nearly a mile wide. At the same time, the shells will travel over a thousand feet in the air.
Last year, Macy’s had to scale down their fireworks display. So, this year, they want to make sure it is both memorable and spectacular. They aren’t just celebrating Independence Day, after all. In fact, Macy’s, like thousands of other Americans, are celebrating the re-opening of the country. New York’s strict COVID restrictions are mostly gone. So, residents are able to gather once again. What better way to celebrate that than with a night of music, patriotism, and fireworks?
Will Cross, executive producer of the Macy’s fireworks extravaganza said that he hopes the event will, “Inspire a renewed sense of hope and optimism among our fellow New Yorkers and viewers nationwide.”
New York City mayor Bill de Blasio spoke about the Macy’s fireworks event as well. He said, “The Summer of New York City is underway.” He went on to say, “New Yorkers have worked hard to fight back COVID-19 and build a recovery for all of us. This summer, we can’t wait to reconnect with the iconic events that make our city great. These fireworks make us all proud to be New Yorkers and Americans.”
Remember, the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks event kicks off at 8 pm Eastern Time. The actual fireworks will begin at 9:25. Tune in on NBC or one of many live TV streaming apps.
