McDonald’s Debuts 3 New Items on Menu All at Once

Fast-food chicken fans rejoice! McDonald’s restaurants across the country have released three new chicken sandwiches.

The fast-food giant is stepping into the chicken sandwich wars in a big way. McDonald’s hopes to please chicken enthusiasts of all stripes with their new chicken sandwich lineup. There is a plain crispy chicken sandwich, a spicy sandwich, and a deluxe. So, whether you want something simple, spicy, or a chicken sandwich with all the toppings, head to the Golden Arches.

In a statement, Linda VanGosen, VP of Menu Innovations said, “We’re confident all chicken fans – from traditionalists to spice enthusiasts – will discover a new menu favorite they’ll come back for time and time again.”

The statement also said that the sandwiches build upon chicken-based McDonald’s favorites. For example, the classic McChicken and the limited-time favorite Spicy Chicken McNuggets. It goes on to give details about the new menu items.

The Crispy Chicken Sandwich is simple. It’s an all-white-meat chicken patty served on a potato bun with mayo and pickles. It’s like a McChicken but better. The new spicy option swaps out mayo for spicy pepper sauce. Finally, the deluxe option adds shredded lettuce and Roma tomatoes to the sandwich.

All three of the McDonald’s sandwiches are available right now via drive-thru, carry-out, or delivery.

The War McDonald’s Has Entered

McDonald’s is stepping into some serious competition. Several fast-food giants are already deep in the chicken sandwich trenches. Chick-Fil-A, Popeye’s, and KFC have been locked in the poultry battle for over a year. All of those places specialize in fried chicken. So, Ronald and company are already at a disadvantage.

Chick-Fil-A and Popeye’s were the first chains to enter the fray. Way back in September of 2019, Popeye’s experienced a chicken sandwich shortage due to everyone flocking to their locations. This left an opening for Chick-Fil-A to step in with some Twitter shade and a near-endless supply of chicken sandwiches.

Popeye’s was new to the chicken sandwich game. So, when their new menu item caught on, they couldn’t keep up with the demand. Since then, the Cajun chicken hotspot put their chickens in a row and is now a serious contender in the chicken sandwich wars.

The real question here is how McDonald’s will fare in the war? Will their sandwiches be up to snuff? If so, will their supply lines hold up to the possible demand? Only time will tell. For now, though, their new line of crispy chicken sandwiches looks good enough to hold up against the stiff competition.
