McDonald’s promised a new treat on its menu three weeks ago. The company announced that a new flavor of McFlurry was coming to their restaurants. The soft-serve ice cream milkshake combination is getting an addition starting on May 3. That treat is a Caramel Brownie McFlurry.

Today, April 27, McDonald’s said that they will be giving out the new treat for free.

In 1997, the fast-food chain came up with a new dessert for its customers. They rethought the milkshake, and it was a smashing success. One of the things they added with the dessert was a spoon that looked like a straw. But, the new-fangled invention didn’t function as a straw, only as a spoon.

The reason behind this interesting spoon design has been known for years – it attaches to the McFlurry machine and mixes the treat. However, the fast-food chain is doing a sort of mea culpa by giving away the new flavored dessert for free.

McDonald’s Giving Out One Free McFlurry for Free

In a press release from McDonald’s, they said that on Tuesday, May 4, they will hand out regular-sized McFlurries as a token for anyone who has ever mistaken the spoon for a straw. Which, they explain, is everyone.

“Our McFlurry spoon is ~misunderstood~ and every true McDonald’s fan understands the struggle of confusing it for a straw,” the press release read. “While we can’t change the iconic hollow spoon (a key piece of the mixing process), we can help ease the sting of your facepalm upon figuring out how to use it. How? We’re giving everyone who has ever even thought the spoon was a straw… so yeah, everyone… a FREE regular size Caramel Brownie McFlurry on May 4 at participating McDonald’s.”

So, how do you go about getting one of these free McFlurries? Well, it is really simple. In the same press release, they explain how to get your hands on a free Caramel Brownie McFlurry.

“Simply scan the offer code in McDonald’s App and pick up our newest treat at your local participating restaurant. No purchase necessary,” the restaurant said. Unfortunately, they also said that it is limited to one per customer.

The Fast-Food Chain Celebrated 66 Years in Business

This dessert giveaway comes shortly after McDonald’s chain celebrated its 66th anniversary on April 15. America and the fast-food restaurant seem to go hand-in-hand.

The restaurant’s golden arches are everywhere, scattered throughout every state. Their brand has become one of the most recognizable in the world. But its history is a little confusing.

McDonald’s actually began with hotdogs, not burgers. Quickly, though, the company incorporated burgers into its menu. From there, the restaurant focused on burgers, fries, and milkshakes. Word spread quickly about the quality, speed, and price of the food.

The restaurant created the idea of fast-food chains. Every other subsequent variation of fast-food chain followed in their footsteps.
